Faculty and Staff
The Istituto Internazionale di Studi Classici di Orvieto alternates faculty on a semester basis but its professor in residence for 2006-2007 is Dr. Claudio Bizzarri. Dr. Bizzarri has a long record of achievements as director and collaborator on numerous Etruscan and Roman archaeological excavations, as an author of articles on classical archaeology; he was the American Institute of Archaeology Kress Foundation Lecturer for 2001-2002 and he is contract researcher at the University of Macerata. Dr. Bizzarri received his doctorate from the University of Perugia. The Istituto will normally have two faculty members in residence.
Courses are taught in English, with professors alternating each semester.
The Istituto has a bilingual administrative coordinator, Dr. Alba Frascarelli, to handle daily inquiries. She also has extensive experience as a classical archaeologist on numerous Italian excavations in the Orvieto area. In addition faculty members will hold regular office hours to deal with student needs.
Director of the Institute is Dr. David Soren, Regents Professor, Department of Classics, University of Arizona, Tucson (Ph.D. Harvard University).
