Faculty and Staff
The University of Arizona Study Abroad Program in Italy alternates faculty on a semester basis but its professor in residence is Dr. Claudio Bizzarri. Dr. Bizzarri has a long record of achievements as director and collaborator on numerous Etruscan and Roman archaeological excavations, as an author of articles on classical archaeology; he was the American Institute of Archaeology Kress Foundation Lecturer for 2001-2002. Dr. Bizzarri received his doctorate from the University of Perugia. The program will normally have two faculty members in residence.
Courses are taught in English, with professors alternating each semester.
The program has a bilingual administrative coordinator, Dr. Alba Frascarelli, to handle daily inquiries. She also has extensive experience as a classical archaeologist on numerous Italian excavations in the Orvieto area. In addition faculty members will hold regular office hours to deal with student needs.
Director of the program is Dr. David Soren, Regents Professor, Department of Classics, University of Arizona, Tucson (Ph.D. Harvard University).
